WORLD OUTGAMES FIGURE SKATING ANNOUNCES ISI ENDORSEMENT (SANCTION)
The rules have been announced for World Outgames. For those of you familiar with the issues in trying to sanction a same gendered skating competition, you will understand why ISI (Ice Skating Institute) was selected as the sanctioning body. They allow for more flexibility and Outgames has taken advantage of this where they can and are working through the areas where they can't.

OUTGAMES FIGURE SKATING EVENTS
The events are structured to be as close as possible to the events at other Adult skating competitions you are likely to attend in 2009. The names are different. But the intent is for little or no change in your program from other competitions to this one. Below are the Outgames event names and what they relate to in the ISU / USFS rules.
Solo Creative Free Skate - similar to Freestyle
Solo Artistic - similar to Artistic/Dramatic Interpretive
Solo Spotlight - similar to Comedy/Character Interpretive
Couples Artistic Free Skate - similar to Pairs
Ice Dancing Compulsories / Free Dance
Production Team - an 8 to 32 member ensemble event
You can find the general rules for these events on the Outgames website at
http://www.copenhagen2009.org/Sport/Disciplines/Figure_Skating/Competition.aspx. The skill levels can be found at http://www.skateisi.com/site/sub.cfm?content=testing_requirements.There are some slight differences in allowable elements from Outgames and ISU / USFS, most notably is that neither a Lutz Jump nor a Camel Spin are allowed at FS4 which is comparable to a Bronze level. You should review the rules thoroughly and you can certainly ask us here at IGFSU any questions you might have. It's possible you may not be penalized for doing elements higher than are allowed for an event (unless a poor execution effects your overall presentation), but you wouldn't be given credit for them either. The durations are very close and there is never a penalty for going under the duration. Vocal music is allowed in all events. Props are allowed in the Solo Spotlight event. Props are considered items that not attached or you take off and are set on the ice as long as it doesn't don't ruin the surface of the ice.
The Ice Dance selection is being discussed in order to make it consistent with other 2009 competitons. If you are interested in Ice Dancing, register for the event and your level can be adjusted later.
Again, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact IGFSU or World Outgames Copenhagen directly.
